NASA Internships | NASA paid internships allow high school and college-level students to contribute to agency projects under the guidance of a NASA mentor. Applicants must be 16 years old at the time of application, U.S. citizens, be full-time as a student, and meet a minimum 3.0 GPA requirement. Most internships are paid, may be in-person or virtual, and are offered across NASA facilities in fall, spring, and summer sessions. Prior experience is not required. |
NASA Fellowships | NASA Fellowships allow graduate-level students to pursue research projects in response to the agency's current research priorities. Student researchers are exposed to NASA's innovation-oriented culture and facilities. Fellows participate in prestigious conferences. Fellowships support academic institutions by enhancing graduate learning and development. |
NASA Community College Aerospace Scholars (NCAS) | Students participating in the NASA Community College Aerospace Scholars (NCAS) activity can expect to advance their capabilities in STEM, helping to prepare them for better representation and service in STEM fields. NCAS has three missions designed to challenge and build student knowledge and skills by focusing on NASA’s mission goals, collaboration, and career pathways. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, currently enrolled at a U.S. community college, be a high school graduate or equivalent, be a U.S. citizen, and be able to commit to a 5-week online course to successfully complete this program. |
NASA L'SPACE Program | The NASA L'SPACE Program is a free, online, interactive experience open to undergraduate STEM students interested in pursuing a career with NASA or other space organizations. L'SPACE consists of two Academies - the Mission Concept Academy, and the NASA Proposal Writing and Evaluation Experience Academy. Students may participate in one Academy per semester. Each 12-week Academy is designed to provide unique, hands-on learning and insight into the dynamic world of the space industry. Students can expect to learn NASA mission procedures and protocols from industry professionals as they collaborate with fellow team members to complete mission-related team-projects. Requirements for participation: Students must be enrolled in a US college or University as an undergrad (graduate students may apply to NPWEE); have access to a computer with internet, webcam, and headset capabilities; and have time to devote an additional 6-10 hours per week, beyond the online session requirements, towards team projects. |
NASA Pathways Intern | The Pathways Program offers current students and recent graduates paid internships that are direct pipelines to full-time employment at NASA upon graduation. NASA strategically hires Pathways Interns based on long-term potential and alignment with NASA’s future workforce needs. Specializing in multi-semester experiences, the Pathways Internship Program prepares you for a career at NASA. Applicants must be at least 16 years of age, a U.S. citizen, be enrolled as (at least) a part-time student at an accredited college or university, have at least a 2.9 GPA, and be able to complete at least 640 hours of work in the NASA Pathways Program prior to completing their degree. |
NASA Challenges | Each year, NASA solicits student teams to apply for, and participate in, NASA challenges. NASA student challenges often seek novel and innovative solutions to a challenging problem that NASA faces now or will face in the future. Challenges can range from food production techniques in space, ideas on how to excavate the Moon’s icy regolith, and coding problems for deep space exploration, just to name a few! |
