  • (4/18/2007) General Symposium Information

Space Grant will provide a bus to transport interns to Tempe on Friday afternoon. The bus will arrive behind the Kuiper Space Sciences building at about 3:30 PM and will leave for Tempe between 3:45 and 4:00. It will take us to the Symposium hotel, the Fiesta Inn in Tempe. Your rooms have been reserved for you and are prepaid by the program. The banquet will begin on Friday evening at 7:00 PM. Dress for the banquet and the symposium is business attire.

On Saturday morning, you will be provided breakfast at the hotel after which the bus will drive us to ASU where the symposium will be held in the Memorial Union. The exact time of the symposium has not been announced, but it will likely begin about 8:00 AM and end around 4:00 PM. Afterwards, the bus will transport us back to UA.

Many of you are electing to drive yourselves up to Tempe. You, of course, will be responsible for getting to the hotel and to the symposium the next day. We strongly encourage you all to plan on spending the day at the symposium. Making your own presentation is of utmost importance, but so is listening to others present and interacting with interns from UA and the other participating universities. There will be over 100 student speakers at this year's symposium, speaking in three concurrent topical sessions. It will be quite a day!

ASU will be releasing the speaking schedule very soon. I was up there this weekend working on it with their Space Grant managers, so I know the schedule is nearly complete. Stay tuned...

  • (4/16/2007) Symposium Presentations
Symposium Power Point presentations are to be emailed to:

If you need Arizona Space Grant Consortium logos that you want to put into your presentation slides, see the Logo Repository.

Please have them keep their file size down as much as possible -- 3 megabytes is acceptable. Presentations are to be 7-8 minutes long with a minute or so for questions. We have a lot of presentations to get through this year so please warn them that if they go over, they will be cut off.

It is a good idea to bring a backup on a thumb drive. However, this is only an emergency backup measure. Please make sure we have all presentations by the deadline.

We should have the session order posted soon so that they know when they’ll be speaking. Please pass the word on, that we do like everyone to stay for the entire event so that the last students presenting aren’t presenting to an empty room.
