Company Description: Kutta Technologies manufacturers the most widely used software and hardware for interoperable controllers of uncrewed systems (drones) in the U.S. military. We also turn space-based sensor data into real insight by using modern machine learning and advanced orbital dynamics. This gives our customers a clear, reliable picture of what is happening in orbit and improves overall space awareness.
Primary Responsibilities/ Focus Areas of Internship: Software, coding, artificial intelligence AI, robotics, flying and controlling drones.
The intern will be working directly with our AI development engineer. AI work at Kutta is currently focused on neural processing at the Edge with low power processors. We are using AI for classification, object detection, and automated target recognition. We are also working with partners to develop models that use voice commands for unmanned systems by pairing LLMs with knowledge graphs.
Key Tasks/Projects the Intern may be involved with:
Key tasks will include testing and evaluation work and potentially assisting on developing multi-vehicle capabilities.
Required Skills & Level:
- Linux (intermediate - advanced)
- Embedded systems (intermediate - advanced)
- Beginner skills in networking, object detection, Python, and Claude.
Desirable Skills & Level:
- Interest or experience in AI systems or robotics.
- Interest or experience with drones.

Work Location & Hours: This position is mostly in-person. Once the internship is set up and project decided, the intern will coordinate with Kutta engineers on a mix of in-person and virtual work.
