Information
Bus Transportation from UA to Tempe (Friday, April 8)
The bus will pull up behind Flandrau Planetarium and the Kuiper Space Sciences Building about 3:45 PM on Friday. We will load quickly and plan to be on the road at 4:00 PM. Please be on time--we don't want the bus to leave without you! Please email Susan Brew right away if you no longer require a seat (so we won't be looking for you) or if your name is missing from the list. The bus will transport us to the Sheraton Phoenix Airport Hotel, and from the Hotel to the Symposium the next day. The bus will be there to transport us from ASU back to Tucson at the end of the Symposium—likely about 4:00 PM. It will drop us off behind Kuiper and Flandrau—in the same place where we will meet the bus to drive up to Phoenix on Friday.
Symposium Banquet (Friday, April 8)
The Friday night Space Grant Banquet will be held at the meeting hotel, the Sheraton Phoenix Hotel in Tempe: Sheraton Phoenix Airport Hotel. Banquet check-in and a meet-and-greet hour will start at 6:00 PM and dinner will be served at 7:00 PM. Nice business dress is in order.
Symposium (Saturday April 9)
AZ/NASA Space Grant Undergraduate Research Internship Program Symposium: The symposium starts in the Arizona State University Memorial Union's second floor Arizona Ballroom at 8:25 AM. The presentations schedule is posted on the bottom of the ASU symposium web site. This site also has scheduling information for the banquet, suggestions for symposium dress, maps to the hotel and from the hotel to ASU's Memorial Union, etc.
Symposium Hotel Rooms
Each person who requested a room at the Symposium Hotel has a reservation at the Sheraton—ready for our check-in on Friday afternoon. Interns are assigned two to a room. You'll learn who you are rooming with when we get to Phoenix!
F.A.Q.
1. Will there be a shuttle that takes Interns back and forth from the hotel to the campus? Or do they have to take the shuttle in the morning and not be able to go back to the hotel once they are done with the presentation? Where do we park at ASU?
We check-out of the hotel first thing in the morning, and before we go to ASU for the Symposium. The program bus will transport those who signed-up to ride from the hotel to ASU for the Symposium, and then from ASU back to UA at the end of the day. Those who have elected to drive up to Phoenix, will find parking maps for ASU on our host's symposium web site (bottom of page)
2. Can family eat at the luncheon with them or do families have to pay?
The RSVP forms allowed all participants to ask to bring guests to dinner and/or to lunch the day of the symposium. If family members were listed as guests and reservations made for them to attend the lunch, they may join the group. If not, families should plan to eat elsewhere.
3. How will they be able to find the rooms where they are presenting?
Abstract books will be given out at the registration table at the banquet and they will show session room assignments.
