Primary Responsibilities/ Focus Areas of Internship:
• Learn Altium schematic capture & CAD layout
• Learn footprint creation & library support
• Learn design for manufacturing principles
• Perform LTSpice simulations
• Learn Tech Tools USB Logic Analyzer
• Learn PIC18F Microcontroller programming
• Learn SPI, 12C, UART Serial bus operation
• Learn Altium & manual project BOM generation
• Learn basic thermal analysis
• Learn circuit design theory
• Learn good engineering practices guidelines
• Attend local conferences that coincide with scheduled day at MJS
• Attend Monthly Engineering Meeting, customer meetings (if they coincide with
the scheduled day at MJS)
• Attend Chandler Innovation Fair with Engineering & Sales Team on Saturday,
February 21, 2026, if available
Key Tasks/Projects the Intern may be involved with: Our projects vary due to our service provider nature. There will be engineering design and CAD layout, but projects are changing. The intern will be working side by side with our engineering and CAD layout team for the entire internship focused on the projects in house at the time.
The intern will spend the first two, possibly three weeks, shadowing in every department at MJS Designs to understand all facets of a product development cycle and to gain hands on experience with manufacturing the product.
The intern will be tasked with writing a blog near the end of the 18 weeks highlighting their experience at MJS Designs that will be posted to the MJS Designs website and social media platforms.
Required Skills & Level:
- Electrical Engineering - Beginner
- Some experience/understanding of circuit design theory from either previous course work or hands on experience with hobby projects is preferred.
Desirable Skills & Level:
• Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
• Organizational, time management and interpersonal skills
• Written and verbal communication skills
• Resourcefulness, confidence, and problem – solving skills

Work Location & Hours: This position is 100% in-person. The intern can choose what hours work best for them, but must be there for that set day/time.
