Project Vargas_2

Project Description: Aspera is a NASA space mission to build and launch a far-ultraviolet space telescope that will map the 'missing' material outside of galaxies for the first time. Aspera will launch into low Earth orbit in January of 2027. As we approach launch, we'd like to work with student interns to assist the team with public relations surrounding the mission and our launch. Any students interested in careers in science communications and public relations, especially around spaceflight missions and science in general would be ideal for this opportunity!

NASA Relevance: Aspera is a NASA-funded space mission in SMD. This work helps advance public awareness of NASA-funded research.

Work Description

  • Write and design quarterly newsletters for our public mailing list.
  • Create a media kit that contains key mission facts and overviews with different audiences in mind (i.e., corporate sponsors, general public, media, etc.).
  • Create social media content (posts, graphics, captions) for mission updates, student spotlights, and launch countdown
  • Create audience-specific fact sheets and mission overview documents
  • Organize and curate digital asset library including photos, videos, and graphics
  • Develop alumni tracking system to document student career pathways after graduation
