Project Marcucci

Project Description: Smithsonian STARS (https://smithsonianstars.si.edu/) is a national initiative at the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory dedicated to expanding astronomy access for K-12 students and educators in rural America. Through donated telescopes, instructional materials, and star parties, STARS aims to inspire the next generation of STEM professionals. The intern will collaborate with the STARS team to create and test instructional video tutorials program activities and science content, bridging the gap between academic research and public engagement. This role offers vital professional development in science communication. Additionally, the intern will participate in school visits to test materials and serve as a role model for K-12 students. By sharing your personal journey as a STEM major, you will provide high schoolers with a firsthand look at the college experience, helping demystify the path to a science degree.

NASA Relevance: The Smithsonian STARS program aligns with NASA efforts by fostering a scientifically literate public and preparing the future workforce through high-quality STEM engagement in rural communities.
